Discussion:
Cannot send or receive internet mail

I recently applied the GW6.5 SP6 update and all went smooth until I
realized no mail was coming in or going out to the internet. Users can
send and receive fine internally. The POA and MTA come up fine and all
NLM's appear to have loaded but no mail. I ran a dns report from
dnsstuff.com and everything checks out except pinging the mailserver. It
cannot connect to it. The firewall is forwarding correctly so I am not
sure where the issue lies. Probably simple (at least I hope).

The NLM loaded fine and it says the Gateway is open in the MTA. Is there
any other way to tell?

You could try Telnet to check it, see TID 10075421

More info: So, I tried manually loading the GWIA and I get a critical
error. I then try to unload the GWIA and the server abends and restarts.
Do I need to reinstall the GWIA???

Worth a shot, you did upgrade it at the same time as the POA/MTA ?

That is more than likely where the issue lies. It did not upgrade the
first time around (pays to be a novice) and I found an article that
explained the error I received. Went back in and it upgraded fine or so I
thought. All the NLM's loaded with no errors and so I thought all was well
until I reloaded it manually. That is when the abend occurred.

Maybe......Are you using WebAccess as well, and on the same server ?

If so, please upgrade that as well, and launch it....

When compleatly loaded, check by logging onto webaccess, launch GWIA

(Seen some nasty abends due to the viewer not been configured corretlly,
until WebAcc has been launched)

Loading web access was the fix. Something happened to the GWIA as
everytime I unloaded it the server would abend and shutdown. I ultimately
had to disable GWIA at startup and then I was able to load the Web access
client. I have yet to reboot server as the office is wanting to remain
online as they are a little behind. I am just hoping everything sticks.
Thank you for the help.
