Email Recovery

Recovery of email for a user from 3 years ago.

1) Retrieved a copy of the Post Office (GWPOST) from Tape backup.

2) Using an NT Standalone workstation, Ran an offline GWPOA (version 6.56
02/01/06), with the POA startup switches /noada /nomtp /noqf, pointing to
the retrieved Post Office. POA server console shows PO running.

3) Attempted to attach to this PO, using GroupWise client 6.56.

4) I receive the error message, “The version of GroupWise you are
using cannot access this post office”

5) Contacted Novell GroupWise 6.5 at end of life and no longer supported.
I couldn’t open a ticket.


Any suggestions on how to access the PO and recover Mail would be
appreciated.

Have you tried an older version of the POA and client? Some changes
happened around 6.5.6/6.5.7 that are somewhat flaky about versioning. If
you used just a 6.5.0 POA/client you might be able to pull it off!
