Setting up 2nd MTA

GW 6.5.7 on NW 6.5.6. Want to set up a 2nd MTA on another box, but the
install routine wants to set up a 2nd POA as well. So, how can the MTA
be set up w/o the post office, or if it cannot should the po simply be
deleted? Also, should the 2nd MTA have its own domain or in installing
it should the existing domain be pointed to?

I have et up an MTA (with a secondary domain having a direct connection
to the primary domain) and a GWIA on the second box. I have no idea
what became of the supposed 2nd post office, which install indicated it
would create. Can someone point me to a TID or documentation, or better
yet tell me, how the secondary MTA and GWIA should be configured so that
the secondary domain replicates the primary and the secondary GWIA
becomes the only GWIA?

I have difficulties thinking of where you've seen the second POA thingy.
Can you describe what exactly you did to create the secondary MTA, and
where have you seen the second POA? BTW, what is your final goal here
anyways?

I did not want a 2nd PO, but thought one might be created because when I
ran the install routine it said it would created both an MTA and a PO;
as it happened it only created the MTA. We have 2 6.5.6 NW servers, one
w/Border Manager, and the primary is a SBS server. The goal is to have
a 2nd MTA on the BM server and place the GWIA there as well, i.e., to
remove it from the primary server, and thereby to have a duplicate of
the domain db on the BM server as well.

Ok, let me ask again: What *exactly* did you do, and which install
routine? There is no install routine involved in creating a secondary
MTA which would in any whatsoever way produce or ask for an unwanted PO.

Ok, that part makes sense.

Here's a very brief description how to do this:

1. In ConsoleOne, create a new Groupwise Domain in a context of your
choice, which connected to your current one. It will automatically ask
you if it should link that domain to your primary, and ask for any
information it needs.

2. Once done, launch the GW agents install routine, and tell it you're
installing a domian, it's name, and path. No PO necessary, and it will
never ask or suggest one. Let it launch the MTA after succesful
installation.

3. Create a new GWIA in your new domain. You can actually just run the
GWIA install routine, it will create the eDirectory objects for you.

4. In internet addressing, switch your preferred GWIA to the newly
created one.

5. (optional) Delete the old GWIA.
