Help! We did a top down rebuild and seems to have ended up with a Ghost
MTA and POA. There is no domain assocaited with it. I can't seems to get
rid of it.

When I tried to look at the property pages it says "No property pages"
Available.

Any idea as to how to get rid of this. We have Netware 6, Groupwise 6.5.3.
I am in the process of trying to upgrade to 6.5.3 and a bit frightned that
this might cause a problem for the upgrade.

Many Thanks for any help.

Hi Timothy,

Thank you for the reply. I can see them in Consoleone. I will like to get
rid of them before upgrading to Groupwise 7 but don't know how to.

Any help much appreciated.

Dave it is on the GW side of the NDS.

If I go to Groupwise View, click on Domains, I can't see a Domain for it.
If I click on MTAs then I can see an MTA for it. Then if I go to Post
Offices, I can see a Post Office for it but not a POA.

I could send you a screen shot of what it looks like ? If you like to see
what it looks like, please email my work email address
***@legalservices.gov.uk.

Many Thanks.

Thanks Dave. But I can't do anything with it. I am using Consoleone
1.3.6e. Tried a different version, same thing. When I tried to go to the
property page it comes up with "No property pages available". There is no
"Domain" for it, only a MTA and a PO. No POA.

Any ideas ?

Thanks Dave for the message. We have got 21 Domains. 20 are GW 6.5.3. One
is GW 5.5 (used for Async Gateway which is going end September).

The strange thing is, I can't see a Domain for this Ghost. There is only a
MTA and a PO. Not even a POA. I logged a call with Novell on Friday
evening. I have sent the wpdomain.db of the Primary domain for them to
have a look. Will let you know what happens.

Thanks once again.

I was just wondering if one of the domains didn't show these problem
items, then you could just rebuild the bad domain from a good one

Dave/Timothy,

Novell "Actually" fixed the problem, please see below -

1.- Connect to the Primary domain. Do a right-click on Groupwise system -
New - External Domain.
2.- In the Domain name enter HQ and click on OK.
3.- Expand this external domain, you'll find an external PO. Delete it,
then Delete the MTA and finally delete the hq external domain we've just
created.
4.- Go to the Groupwise system View, select MTA and let me know if the MTa
is gone now.

Now the logic of this issue:
Apparently, the parent object of this MTA was removed in some way, I said
in some way because Groupwise should let you remove objects that have
existing child objects on it. For some reason the parent was removed but
the child is still there. Creating an external domain and called it using
the same name that the secondary used to have let us create a "temporal
link" between the child and the parent. ;-)

I learnt something very useful today.

Thanks guys for your help.

Thanks for the followup.

A possible way a parent object could have possibly ben removed is with
a non-snapped ConsoleOne/NWAdmin. Since the utility would not know how
to talk to the GW database(s) I could see it happening.
